In 6th grade I had to read a historical fiction too :) I ended up choosing Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. Loved it!! Try it out. XD

I was required to read All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque in seventh or eighth grade (don't remember which). It's about World War I and follows the character, Paul Baumer, and others who are involved. Though it was depressing and school required, I enjoyed it.
This is the only suggestion I can think of right now. You could also go on Amazon and look at lists customers have made that list historical fiction books until you find something you really want to read.
