I am a 21 year old girl and I like books about people my age, love stories, etc.
I also am a HUGE fan of Chuck Palahniuk and also Hunter S. Thompson.
I love their styles of writing. The style is like, raw and real.
So any good book suggestions for me today? I'm off to the library here in awhile..

Try Gabriel Garcia Marquez. This is a hit and miss kind of author, but if you like Chuck and Hunter I think you might like him. He's very raw and real, a little too much for most, but because of that his books are intense and passionate the way love should be written. I'd recommend Love in the Time of Cholera, but don't be discouraged because the first 50 or so pages are just setting. Love and other Demons was a shorter novel, but just as outstanding.
He's quite popular now, and I think most libraries would carry something of his. If that fails, try Kurt Vonnegut. Steinbeck might be a good choice, I'll recommend Cannery Row.

Should schools give out Hunter Thompson books to read for classwork?

He is one of the greatest 20th century writers, but no school would ever recomend his books to students. Why is this?

He liked to drink to access and then go shoot guns, and some of his language can be considered graphic for some high schoolers parents aka:PTA
However I think he's great, I've read "Hells angels", "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", "Fear and Loathing on the 72 campaign trail" , "Generation of Swine" and many others
