Answer
I think you're talking about the content we learn in school. Certainly your grandparents have learned much more throughout life, but it is definitely true that there is much more content in the curriculum now, which is one of the reasons it's a mistake to say that schools have gotten worse. The expectations have gotten higher.
I'm sorry that I don't have the quote for you, but I can give you some examples.
In science, we simply know so much more. I know that my daughter's science textbook had many more parts of the cell that she had to learn, because microscopes are so much more powerful now than they were before, and scientists have discovered more parts. Similar things have happened in all branches of science- the Hubble telescope has shown us so much more about the universe, and technological advances have allowed much more exploration of the seas, and so on.

History and social studies- the U.S. used to be much more isolate from the world, so no one really cared if we knew a lot about the rest of the world and its history. We studied mostly European countries, because that's where our roots were. Now the population of the U.S. is more diverse, and we have many more links with the rest of the world, so there's more about other countries in our curriculum .

I did find this quote: "The world's volume of new information is increasing at such a rate that a class of this year will be exposed to more new data in a year than their grandparents were encountered in a lifetime. Knowledge doubles every seven years."

Jehovah's Witnesses and EX-JW's, can anyone tell me or provide me with the WT Publication that tells us ?

Big Guy 36

The 1919 date that Jesus appoints the JW organization as the faithful and discrete slave? I am looking for the first ones that tells us of this event.

Also can anyone provide me with the WT publication that tells us that Jesus' Invisible presence in 1914. I am looking for the first ones that told about the 1914 Invisible presence.

Answer
Watchtower 15 April 1961, page 236 (from the annual year book) - 'The foretold events having begun AD 1914, the generation of mankind that is still alive from that year is the generation meant by Jesus Christ. Till now we have seen fulfilled the world-shaking features of the 'sign of Christ's invisible presence and of the consummation of the system of things'... The occurrence of these things since 1914 is within the knowledge of millions of this generation... We then, are the generation that will not pass away till there is fulfilled that 'great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, no, nor will occur again'.

Life Everlasting (1966) - 'The great sign of the 'last days' has been in the course of fulfilment since the beginning of the 'time of the end' in 1914. Some of the generation that discerned the beginning of the time of the end in 1914 will still be alive on earth to witness the end of this present wicked system of things at the battle of Armageddon.' (This in relation to 1975)

Watchtower 15 May 1984, pages 6-7 - '...so [Jesus'] prophecies regarding 'the time of the end' will be fulfilled within the life span of the generation of 1914... Yes, you may live to see this promised New Order, along with survivors of the generation of 1914 - the generation that will not pass away.'

Watchtower 15 May 1991, page 9 - 'Obeying his father's order, Jesus cleansed the heavens of Satan and his demons, hurling them down to the earth. After seeing this occur in vision, John hears a heavenly voice proclaim: 'Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ!' Yes, in 1914 Christ began ruling as King!'

Watchtower 1 May 1993, page 16 - 'In 1919 the cleansed slave class could look forward to ever-expanding activities.'

Watchtower 15 May 1998, page 17 - 'Anointed Christians who survived the testing period of 1914-1919 were freed from the dominating influence of the world and from many Babylonish religious practices. The remnant went forward as a cleansed and refined people, willingly offering sacrifices of praise to God and having the assurance that they as a people were acceptable to him.'

Best I can do for now. Will continue to search through my files.

Disregarding their original belief that Jesus became King in October 1874, here is the first reference I can find for 1914 - Studies in the Scriptures by Charles Taze Russell (volume 2) 1888 pages 98-99: ' Within the coming 26 years all present governments will be overthrown and dissolved... The full establishment of the Kingdom of God will be accomplished by the end of AD 1914.'

Post 1914 changes were made including the Watchtower of October 1917 when they said "There will be no slip-up... Abraham should enter the actual possession of his promised inheritance in the year 1925 AD."

And get this - Watchtower July 1924, page 211 - 'The year 1925 is a date definitely and clearly marked in the Scriptures, even more clearly than that of 1914." There is more, much more...
