A New Guy
Part of my New Year's Resolution this 2009 is to inform myself more on the history of the US and our politics and government. I was interested in knowing which are some great books to read or possibly other sources to look into so I can get a good set of knowledge down. Thanks everyone for your responses.

What is the best book to read about human evolution?
tina
I'd like to read a book that's specifically on the evolutionary history of humans.
Somewhat brief, not too brief. Just on humans and the species that rose before us.
Can anyone recommend to me a great book on this topic?
Thank you.

The companion book to the BBC series Walking With Caveman is beautiful and very accessible: http://www.amazon.com/Walking-With-Cavemen-John-Lynch/dp/0789497751 . If you haven't seen the series, your library may have it on DVD.
