I want to get some non-fiction books about things like planets and stars. What are some good ones that I could get at Barnes and Noble?
Answer
For all purposes, just walk through the science area. Astronomy for Dummies isn't exactly *great*, but .... for a beginner, it isn't exactly bad. Almost any of the books that have maps (several pages) of the sky (look for almost any books that have the name 'Wil Tirion' on the cover - - you'll be okay with those.) Make sure they have sections on telescopes and binoculars (how to tell different types, how to use, how to care for them, and sections on planets and stars. Over the past few years I've maybe bought 3 or 4 dozen book - and I use (perhaps) a dozen or so regularly.

What is the best non-fiction book about Alexander the Great to do a book report on?
Matt
I need to do a book report for my World Civ class and I picked Alexander the Great as my topic. I need a good (preferably enjoyable) non-fiction book for this topic and I'm hoping you know of one!
Thank you for your suggestions :)
Answer
I'll give you a choice of two.
One is by Plutarch - second century AD - one of the best sources still extant. It's from his parallel lives series, and is available in many translations.
For a modern work, I recommend Robin Lane Fox. I believe the Penguin version is still in print.
