Hinduism. Anybody even reading his books will lead one into atheism. Refer what Prabhupada said about vivekananda.

Answer
It is not nice to discuss about the greatest persons. if you have any doubts in Religion and spirituality, just ask or answer. why you are bringing the matters purely unwarranted. so, please avoid in future.

of course, swami vivekananda have some thoughts on bhakthi movement which was misinterpreted later by someone, but he was not an atheist. He was never against God. He was the pradhama shishya of swami Ramakrishna paramahamsa.

you are saying about this...''vivekananda was not for dualism of seeing God in an image when he was very young. But, shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa on knowing his look on God. called him. He touched the chest of vivekananda to indicate the divinity with himself. Then vivekananda began to see the God in everything, living or non-living.''

Swami vivekananda changed after knowing the truth which came from shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. But, we are not chaning is true.

we are not here to argue, or paper wars. we don't know each other.
we are here to get clarifications and pass on the knowledge we to others and similarly to get knowledge. we have to utilize this opportunity in a proper way.

we are not against on anyone. All are friends, and sowing seeds of hate will knowingly or unknowingly affect our religion.

i read swami vivekananda's books, articles, etc.,and i never see atheism. so, if you look it right, it is right. if you look negatively it is wrong. it is the matter of individual concerned. But, the individual decisions should not be compelled or injected into the collective decisions or people.

Actually, i want to skip this question, but in the name of answer i wish to state some matter and hence i chose this question to answer.

swami vivekananda spread bhakthi all over the world.

Atheistic and metaphorical interpretion of hindu scriptures?

I believe that there are hindu philosophies out there that think like this, and Joseph Campbell (look him up) showed quite an interest in hinduism, but I am having trouble learning anything about hinduism in English, much less finding anything that doesnt interpret their own myths as literal history. Is there anyway I can study Hinduism without learning hindi and studying their books for myself?

Answer
Here's some advice: don't read any descriptions of Hinduism written by professors or academics because they try to look at it through the eyes of Western religions and Western thought. Such attitudes cannot help one get to the essence of Hinduism because Hinduism is not something that Western modes of thought have experience with. You should look at works by the masters of the tradition itself, who have knowledge based on meditation and experience. Examples: Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Ramana Maharshi, Chinmayananda, etc. Also try the translation of the Bhagavad Gita by Eknath Easwaran, as it explains the essence of the Hindu tradition very well.
