The Oxymor
I'm not Far Eastern Asian and I don't have a talent at playing the piano but I am average. I am on Grade 6 ABRSM piano, doing my grade 5 theory and I want to play professionally or semi-professionally past passing Grade 8. How can I train doing this now? I know it is perhaps a long process that requires dedication but please try to break it down to me and maybe suggest a useful book that can help me?

I never used ABRSM, so I'm not too sure where you are, but if you want to be a good piano player there are certain things you can do.
1) get a good teacher. This is perhaps the most important thing you can do. You need someone intelligent who pushes you. The person needs to not only be a talented pianist, but a good musician as well.
2) practice every day. This sounds obvious and simple, but to really commit to this takes dedication.
3) expand your repertoire. Even if you only want to play classical, you should be able to understand and play other styles as well.
4) you should go to a good music school. Juilliard, the University of Michigan, and many other schools have wonderful programs for piano performance. They will help you become a true virtuoso.
5) you also have to be gifted. Not everyone can become a professional pianist

I read the book back in grade 5, and just saw the movie a few days ago. Interested to read the book again.
