greatest books about baseball image
Nancy
This is a GREAT book on baseball, now sadly out of print. I have several copies on paper but would love a digital copy for my iPhone.
To Herschel: thanks for your legal advice but I'm well aware of copyright law and of how writers make a living. I have no intention of doing anything illegal as you assume that I am. I merely want to know if a digital copy is available FOR PURCHASE that I have not been able to find on my own.
Answer
Helyar's book is not available in digital form, but there are indeed still hardcopies available.
You should also know that what you're asking for is illegal. Anyone who sends you a digital copy of a book still in copyright is a thief, and you would be in receipt of stolen property (also a crime).
It does not matter at all that you have -- and presumably purchased the hardcopy -- a digital version is a different item. You only purchased the one copy, not alternate copies or versions.
Specifically:
Several web sites offer online full-texts of books that are out of copyright, e.g. www.gutenberg.org.
However, aside from the copyright owner, which is almost always the author or their publisher, ANYONE who posts, distributes, or transmits the text of these books online is violating both the U.S. and the International Copyright laws â 88 countries are members of the WIPO Copyright Treaty -- infringing on Intellectual Property, and can be fined and jailed for it. (In general, anything first published within the last 52 years in the U.S. will still be in copyright. When the law was changed, it became copyright duration matched the rest of the work, i.e. the authorâs/copyright ownerâs lifetime plus 50 years.)
Writers make a living by creating their work. To read or use it without paying for it, is STEALING, pure and simple.
If the work is valuable enough to read, it must be paid for.

What is the best BASEBALL book to give as a birthday present?
Vinny Mac
A good friend of mine is in love with Baseball. I'm not really into the game, but his birthday is coming up, and I'm going to get him a bunch of baseball stuff. But I have a bunch of Amazon giftcards, and I wanted to get him a book. He loves the New York Yankees.
Have any of you purchased a baseball book that you thought was great?
Thanks ahead of time,
- V
