...ruin a great book? Mine would be The Maze Runner and Divergent. Both are excellent novels, but I'm a little concerned. First, there's the possibility that the movie will suck, and the film makers will take it in their own direction, thus losing the original effect of the story. If it happens to turn out good, it has little chance of escaping the Twilight/Hunger Games Syndrome, where it turns into an overly merchandised brand that's more focused on attractive teen models and their relationships than the story itself. While I'm excited to see what these stories will look like when played out on the big screen, I still can't help but cringe at the more-than-likely possibilities of the stories being contorted to fulfill the desires of modern teens.

I'm not ever goin to read The Hobbit again. (I found it deadly dull on the over describing, but it hooked me just enough to plow through it.) Since reading The Hobbit turned me off to reading LOTR, BUT I loved the movies, I'm looking for how Peter Jackson pulls off a three parter to a rather thin book. (It is Peter Jackson directing it, right? I'm not even interested if it's not him and not filmed in NZ.) I'm waiting for all of it to come in DVD to watch that.

And, what the hey? The Hunger Games didn't interest me as a book to read, but, since we have Netflix and it was free, we watched the first one. Now, I'm glad I never read the book, but I look forward to the other two parts coming out.

The Help? Good book. Not interested in the movie.

A movie I wish they'd make, but not in cartoon form (obviously computer generated then) would be Watership Down followed by Tales from Watership Down.

I also think it's way past time for a remake of Tom Sawyer, and I'd love to see Hollywood do The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, now that computer generated has come to the point of looking very realistic.

As for the stuff you cringe over? You'll get over it in a decade or two. ;)

What is your favorite Nicholas Spark's book?

I hear he writes great books but I have not read any of them yet! Now I loved the movie The Notebook, has anyone read it? Is it good and how close does the movie follow it?

What are some other of your favorites by Sparks and what are they about? Thanks a lot! =]

Answer
I read the Notebook. The movie plot and characters were very similar to the book.

My favorite is The Wedding. I like that he has a wholesome, spiritual approach to middle aged love, romance and sex. He believes that everyone deserves all 3, if they want it, no matter what the age. In the Notebook he showed the couples love affair and marriage all the way to the end. We need to see that in our culture, love for all decades.
