I want to feed my 6-month-old son veggies but I do not know what kind of green veggies are good for him. It is too much work to make fresh beans & peas at home abd I heard that baby food products are not as healthy as homemade foods. I want to boil some green veggies like spinach for my baby.

Check out "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron. It has a big section on vegetables and fruits and when to start each of them. It says that cooked spinach should not be started until the baby is 9 months old.
Sweet potatoes are good to start with, as early as 4 months. Winter squash (like acorn or butternut) can be started at 6 months. The book says peas and green beans can be started at 7 months. (All these foods should be cooked and pureed.)
Homemade baby food tastes so much better than storebought and it is fresher and healthier, too. It is easier to make than you think. I would usually steam something and then put it through a food mill. It only took a few minutes. Good luck!

How in the world do you read to a 6 month old?

So I have read the books about how great it is to read to your baby, and I would very much love to do this. However my 6 month old is curious about every thing and won't sit still for me to read to him at bed time, even if he's sleepy. Once I have a book he becomes immediately alert and wants to turn the pages or simply tug and tear at the pages (this is entertaining to him). I tried those hard page books for babies, but he wants to play with that too. After his bath and bottle he is knocked out so the only time I can read to him is when he's sleeping. My question is, should I still read to him even if he's sleeping or is there a way to read to him while he's awake. He has a routine and I'm trying to introduce a book into his routine, but he wants to play once the book is present and forgets he's sleepy. Suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

It isn't always easy, but it's fun. I remember that my daughter would do the same things, so I would let her turn the page, and I would try to read as much as I could before she turned the page again (that was my way of having fun with it). I barely got through ten pages, if that.
My wife and I probably tried this a couple times a week. I think it helped us more in the sense that we started to set aside a specific time to read. We would take a break from it for a while, and then come back to it. It got easier by the time she reached 12-15 months. When your baby is ready, you'll be able to tell.
Ours is a little over 2 now, and she loves when we read to her (and she loves to read to us). Just take your time with it, have fun with it, and enjoy each day. Good luck.
