It's one of my New Year's Resolutions to read the greatest books ever written; however, when I googled this I found many differing opinions and lists. Help me find the best list, or, make your own suggestions.
I'm not surprised at all with the differing opinions, I'm just curious as to what they are.
Answer
Every list is different and it depends on what kind of books you are looking for. Most people agree on a few that are almost always in the top ten: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy; Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert; Middlemarch by George Eliot; The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky; as well as a few others.
The Times list is linked below, but this is just the 100 best English books since 1923.
I also added a second link which is to a list that doesn't exclude books written originally in another language like the Times list does. This list is from a book.
I personally didn't like Anna Karenina, but I loved the Brothers Karamazov. I haven't read the others that I listed above, but I would probably include Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, and The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.

Books that are similar and as good as Twilight?
The Twilight series is amazing. A great book to read. I was wondering though, now that I finished the series, if there were any books similar or as good, and also have to do with vampires or either werewolfs or around there. Thanks for the help.
Answer
The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray. It includes A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing.
The Uglies series by Scott Westerfield (not sure about the spelling). There's 4 books in the series now.
The Vampire Diaries by LJ Smith...4 books (Well, 2 physical books, 4 stories...there's 2 books in one in the newer versions)
The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling...7 books
The Vampire Beach series by Alex Duval...6 books
Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber...5 in the series last I knew...may be up to 6 or 7 now
Blue Bloods, Masquerade, and Revolution by Melissa De La Cruz
City of Bones and City of Ashes (don't remember who they're by)
The House of Night series (I think it's by PC Cast...not really sure)...4 in the series
The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead...2 books now, soon to be 3
Christopher Pike has a ton of books, they're a little more scary than RL Stine's.
The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. I think there's like 5-7 books in the series. Not 100% sure.
Here's some books/series that I can't remember the authors of...
âThe Mortal Instrumentsâ
âWeather Wardenâ
âMorganville Vampiresâ
âTattoo Faeriesâ
âGallagher Girls Seriesâ
âTitheâ, âValiantâ and âIronsideâ
That's all I can think of for now. Have fun reading!!
EDIT: If you're looking for more "adult" books, then check out Laurell K. Hamilton. She has a vampire series about Anita Blake and then there's a fairy series about Meredith Gentry. They can get pretty descriptive in the sex department, so beware of that.
