I know the title is a little confusing, but basically I'm trying to use a quote I found in a book of quotes, but I need to cite where I get my quotes from. So when I use the quote, would I quote the original author it's listed under in the book (Ex: Eleanor Roosevelt) or the author of the book (John Bartlett)?
Thanks in advance!

Answer
I'm no expert but I think you would quote the original author because the quote book is just quoting them and you're not really quoting the quote book, you're quoting the author. Does that make sense? I hope so. I also hope this helped. :)

Answer
"Sorry, I don't have any leeches on my speed dial."
Jacob

âDidnât you have a nice night, then?â he asked, smug.
âIt wasnât the worst night of my life.â
âDid it make the top ten?â Jacob asked with perverse enjoyment.
âPossibly.â
Jacob smiled and closed his eyes.
âBut,â Edward went on, âIf I had been able to take youâre place last night, it would not have made the top ten of the best nights of my life. Dream about that.â
Jacob/Edward

âBut if you ever bring her back damaged againâand I donât care whose fault it is; I donât care if she merely trips, or if a meteor falls out of the sky and hits her on the headâif you return her to me in anything less than the perfect condition I left her in, you will be running with three legs. Do you understand that, mongrel?â
Edward

âYes, may the best man win.â
âThat sounds about right⦠pup.â
Jacob/Edward

Here's some nice ones.

âYou know, Jacob, if it werenât for the fact that weâre natural enemies and that youâre also trying to steal away the reason for my existence, I might actually like you.â
Edward

"You know, Edward, if you werent about to turn the love of my life into a disgusting vampire - well, no, not even then."
Jacob

âBut⦠when I left you, Bella, I left you bleeding. Jacob was the one to stitch you back up again. That was bound to leave its markâon both of you. Iâm not sure those kinds of stitches dissolve on their own. I canât blame either of you for something that I made necessary. I may gain forgiveness, but that doesnât let me escape the consequences.â
Edward

âI can be noble, Bella. Iâm not going to make you choose between us. Just be happy, and you can have whatever part of me you want, or none at all, if thatâs better. Donât let any debt you feel you owe me influence you decision.â
Edward

âHeâs like a drug for you, Bella. I see that you canât live without him now. Itâs too late. But I would have been healthier for you. Not a drug; I would have been the air, the sun.â
Jacob

I think what this is all saying, is that when they both hated each other for the Vampire Werewolf thing, not because of Bella, well, they hated each other. Alot. And when it was about Bella, Edward was noble and showed that he could be 'friends'. Where Jake said that he would never like Edward. Whether that be spite, or he just doesn't like him, i don't know. Anyway, hope this helps.
